S2 Episode 6

SurvivorsChannel 4 documentary series One Born Every Minute hit its stride last night, Tuesday, 23 February, with the third episode attracting more than 3 million viewers.

The series, which documents goings on in a maternity ward, was watched by 3.285 million viewers and attracted a 12.9% share in the 9pm hour, according to unofficial overnights. Another 347,000 (1.8%) watched on Channel 4 +1 an hour later.

One Born Every Minute finished second in the 9pm slot with its best figures yet, up by nearly 800,000 viewers on last week's episode.

The Channel 4 documentary just inched ahead of the final leg of Channel Five's CSI Trilogy which links the franchise's Las Vegas, Miami and New York branches. CSI had 3.218 million (12.7%).

Survivors concluded its second series by winning the 9pm hour for BBC1 with 3.667 million (14.4%), while BBC2's live Winter Olympics coverage – including the women's ski-cross final – landed fourth, attracting 3.021 million (12.5%) over 90 minutes to 10.30pm.

ITV1 was beaten into fifth place in the 9pm hour, with documentary Seven Days of Traffic watched by 1.995 million (7.8%).

BBC4's docudrama On Expenses, starring Anna Maxwell Martin as freedom of information campaigner Heather Brooke and Brian Cox as the former House of Commons speaker Michael Martin, had 776,000 (3.1%) in the 9pm hour.

On Expenses was the second most watched multichannel show of the day, behind BBC3's narrative repeat of EastEnders, which drew 1.041 million (4.8%) from 10pm.

Earlier on BBC1, EastEnders had 10.441 million (43%) in the half hour from 7.30pm, while ITV1's Emmerdale attracted 7.105 million (31.4%) in the preceding 30 minutes.

The Vampire Diaries dropped to 494k (2%) for ITV2 last night, according to early viewing figures.

The third episode of the supernatural drama, which stars Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, was down significantly on the first episode, which logged 847k (3.5%) last week. The second instalment managed 583k (3.1%).

A further 133k (0.7%) tuned in last night on timeshift channel ITV2+1 at 10pm.

BBC One's Survivors won the 9pm hour, drawing 3.82m (15.4%) with its latest episode. Its nearest rival, Channel 4's One Born Every Minute, managed 2.88m (11.6%).

CSI grabbed 2.81m (11.3%) for Five, BBC Two's How The Earth Made Us was seen by 2.77m (11.2%), and Amanda Holden's Fantasy Lives came last for the hour, interesting 2.08m (8.4%) for ITV1.

BBC One's Holby City came top during the 8pm hour with a respectable 6.36m (25.4%). Nearest competitors The Hairy Bikers and Cops With Cameras drew 3.34m (13.4%) and 2.54m (10.2%) for BBC Two and ITV1 respectively.

New Channel 4 series Jo Frost: Extreme Parental Guidance opened to 2.05m (8.2%), and Five's Ice Road Truckers put in 1.34m (5.4%).

Overall, BBC One dominated primetime with an average share of 23.5% to ITV1's 12.4%. Channel 4 was third with 8.9% (+1: 1%), followed by BBC Two with 9.3%) and Five's 6.7%.

The Vampire Diaries made a decent UK debut last night, early viewing figures show.

The series premiere of the teen drama, which stars Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev, pulled in 847k (3.5%) for ITV2 during the 9pm hour. The second episode, which aired immediately afterwards at 10pm, managed 583k (3.1%).

A further 133k (0.7%) and 134k (1.3%) tuned in on ITV2+1 during the 10pm and 11pm hours.

VD easily topped the double-episode opener of Sky1's Caprica, which interested 169k (0.7%) and 134k (0.7%) at 9pm and 10pm respectively.

BBC One came top during the 9pm hour, drawing 3.89m (16.2%) with the latest instalment of Survivors. Its nearest rival, BBC Two's How The Earth Made Us, attracted 2.88m (12%).

Amanda Holden's Fantasy Lives managed 2.24m (9.3%) for ITV1, 1.58m (6.6%) watched Haiti's Killer Quake: Why It Happened on Channel 4, and Five's screening of a new episode of CSI took 2.58m (10.8%).

The 8pm hour was also won by BBC One, which logged 5.89m (24.6%) with Holby City. Nearest competitors BBC Two and ITV1 managed 3.3m (13.8%) and 2.36m (9.9%) respectively for The Hairy Bikers: Mum Knows Best and Cops with Cameras.

How To Look Good Naked... with a Difference put in 1.47m (6.1%) for Channel 4, and Five's Ice Road Truckers grabbed 1.39m (5.8%).

Overall, BBC One dominated primetime with an average share of 23.3% to ITV1's 12.8%. BBC Two was third with 10%, followed by Channel 4 with 7.1% (+1: 0.7%) and Five's 6.2%.

LONDON - ITV1 star Amanda Holden was beaten by BBC One action drama 'Survivors' and Channel 4's 'Celebrity Big Brother' last night, according to unofficial overnight figures.

ITV1 has looked to cash in on Holden's appeal by moving her into her own one-hour slot at 9pm on Tuesdays.

'Amanda Holden's Fantasy Lives', features her trying out "dream" jobs, such as being a Parisian showgirl.

It managed 2.5 million viewers, a disappointing 10% share of the audience.

'Celebrity Big Brother', the reality show boasting luminaries such as Vinnie Jones and Dane Bowers, claimed 3.3 million viewers and a 14.9% share, though the figures include the contribution of its C4+1 showing.

'Survivors', BBC's action drama staring Max Beesley, pulled in 3.6 million viewers and 14.6% of the audience share, winning out against the commercial channels.

ITV1 was also eclipsed by BBC Two's scientific show, 'How Earth Made Us', which pulled in 3.1 million viewers, while Five's long-running crime drama, 'CSI', recorded an audience of 2.4 million.

Survivors

BBC One's Survivors made a decent return last night, early viewing figures show.

Series two of the post-apocalyptic drama, which stars Julie Graham, Zoe Tapper and Paterson Joseph, pulled in 4.45m (17.5%) at 9pm, coming first during the hour.

The ratings for the show's second series opener were down on the performance of series one, which logged 5.33m (22.2%) for its premiere on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 and averaged 4.75m (19.7%) across its six-week run.
